An evening, from a player’s seat

You play one character in a story your DM runs. You speak or type as them, and in a fight you plan with your friends. You don’t need to know the rules first: the game explains each one the first time it matters.

1Make your character · open your DM’s link, sign in, and make who you’ll playUnfold ▾
2Practise in the Trial, if you like · about five minutes, alone, against a training dummyUnfold ▾
3Join the lobby · answer the voice question once, then wait for the DM to startUnfold ▾
Play a sceneThe DM sets the scene with art, sound and words. Under the story you choose how you’re speaking. When the DM gives you the floor, the spotlight, your mic opens if you said yes to voice; typing always works.

Step 5 of 7
Each Round has two steps. First, Planning: everyone picks their moves at the same time, and presses Ready. Then Resolution: it plays out in initiative order. The boss marks where it will strike, a Tell. Step out of the marked squares, or answer a Fast one with your Reaction , such as Dodge. Hit the boss together in the same Round to fill its Stagger bar and Break it.
